"Ministry" is defined as the calling to serve. Ephesians 2:10 describes the believer in Christ as the poetic workmanship of God created in the Lord Jesus for the very purpose of doing the work of ministry. Such work of ministry must be done with a heart that is right before God (Acts 8:21) and with a sobriety in spirit (2 Timothy 4:5) guarded against selfish ambition and ungodly methodologies (Philippians 2:3; 1 Cor 2:2-5) so that it is God alone who is glorified. It was the great missionary to China, Hudson Taylor, who said, "God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supplies." May we "do the work of ministry" in such a spirit that lifts Jesus higher.
