Our Philosophy of Church Planting
Every healthy church must be poised to reproduce, and every reproducing church must be prepared to plant healthy churches that are themselves poised to reproduce. This is the philosophy of church planting at Scarborough Community Alliance Church, and it is one that has given us the impetus not only to establish churches among the unreached, but also to ensure that we are healthy as a church ourselves.
In 2004, the Christian and Missionary Alliance of Canada adopted a vision called "Sea to Sea", that is, that every church should plant a church, and it is to this vision that Scarborough Community refers as we "enlarge our tents" (Isaiah 54:3) to fulfil the Great Commission of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-20).
The Hakka Alliance Church
Leaders: Anthony & Shan Hsieh, Derrick & Aileen Li; Rosy Wang; Philip Liu
The Hakka Alliance Church is a church plant of Scarborough Community Alliance Church, and is designed as an outreach to Hakka speaking people of all ages in the GTA.
Our goals are to share the gospel with those who are not yet believers, to strengthen with fellowship and God's Word those who are, and to mobilize Hakka speaking Christians to reach out to other Hakka speaking people with the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
We began as the Hakka Family Fellowship on November 3, 2007 meeting at Scarborough Community Alliance Church. On October 4, 2009, we officially started Sunday Services as Hakka Alliance Church. We meet every week on Sunday from 3:30 pm to 5 pm.
Our church planting partners in this work are the Eastern Canadian District of the Christian and Missionary Alliance of Canada and the Canadian Chinese Alliance Churches Association.
Agape Vietnamese Alliance Church
Church Planter: Rev. Minh Ho
Agape Vietnamese Alliance Church exists to reach out to the many unreached Vietnamese people of GTA north. This enormous area, described by Steeles Ave in Toronto as its southern border, Vaughan as its western reaches, Markham as its eastern limit, and Newmarket as its northern boundary has been populated by a large internal migration of Vietnamese speaking people who have settled here in the last 10 years. Yet, by 2009, there has been no Vietnamese speaking Church planted as a witness to Christ in this entire region.
Under the charge of our church planter, Rev. Minh Ho, a small but vibrant congregation started on May 31, 2009 in the incubation grounds of Scarborough Community Alliance Church. Currently, we meet at 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm on Sundays for services in Vietnamese. As the work becomes stronger, our plan is to move northwards to the catchment area of GTA north in order to bring Vietnamese people in these areas to Christ, and to establish a strong witness for Him in this region.
Our church planting partner for this work is the Eastern Canadian District of the Christian and Missionary Alliance of Canada.
